Kate is the owner of AWEnest Advocacy, a parent advocate service for children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. She also writes a blog entitled The AWEnesty of Autism, which has been featured on The Mighty, Yahoo Parenting, Autism Speaks, AutismAwareness.com and The Autism Society of America. Many individuals with autism are very literal when it comes to understanding and communicating language. Idioms, abstract language and slang can be very confusing to a literal minded person.
